Touchstone was designed as a mental health tool for traveling Broadway theater performers. It utilizes senses of sight, smell and touch to help ground the user in the present and create a sense of comfort and familiarity between temporary living spaces.
This device has two main components, base and lamp. The base has a plug in wall connection and houses a Bluetooth charger for the light to rest on overnight. In addition to this charger it provides the scent component of the device, housing essential oil infused terra cotta beads in inside of its wood and fabric mesh body. Terra cotta is a wonderful natural scent diffuser, it is lightweight and easily travels, and can the scent can be refreshed easily through re-soaking the beads with essential oils, easily accessible through a panel in the bottom of the stand. The olfactory sense has a strong connection to memory, so it's perfect for creating a sense of home between airbnbs and hotel rooms.
The upper portion of this device is a removable lamp, providing a warm and soft glow to use as a night light or meditation assistant that can be taken anywhere. The interlocking textured patterns can be turned over in the users hands as a focus practice, and box breathing guidance is provided in a glowing and dimming light setting. Bluetooth connectivity built into the lamp opens the future potential for collaboration with meditation apps for more intricate exercises.
